Mr. Speaker, I rise today in support of the bipartisan Bankruptcy Threshold Adjustment Act of 2026, legislation that I am proud to co-lead with my friend and colleague, Representative Cline. For small businesses facing financial difficulty, bankruptcy does not always mean going out of business. In many cases, it can provide an opportunity to reorganize debt, work with creditors, and keep the doors open. That is why Congress created subchapter V of chapter 11 specifically for small businesses. Traditional chapter 11 bankruptcy can be complicated, lengthy, and expensive.

Mr. Speaker, I rise today in support of my bipartisan legislation, the Safe Cloud Storage Act. Every day, law enforcement officers across this country confront some of the most disturbing crimes imaginable. They work to identify children who are being sexually exploited, rescue victims from ongoing abuse, and find and prosecute the predators who are responsible. I know something about that work firsthand. Before coming to Congress, I served as a Federal prosecutor, where I worked on cases involving the exploitation of children.
Mr. Speaker, H.R. 9191 continues the tradition of Congress designating certain plants and animals with significant connection to the United States as national symbols. Most recently, Congress designated the bald eagle as the national bird in 2024. The bill before us today would designate the American mastodon and the Tyrannosaurus rex as the national mammal fossil and the national dinosaur fossil. The fossils that remain from these creatures have fascinated children and adults alike for generations.
Biography
Laurel Lee began her career as an attorney and judge, gaining experience in both public service and the legal system. Elected to represent Florida’s 15th Congressional District in 2022, she focuses on election integrity, public safety, and disaster preparedness. Lee has served on the House Judiciary and Homeland Security Committees, and she sponsored legislation to strengthen cybersecurity for local governments. She approaches her role with a pragmatic mindset, aiming to provide reliable service and responsive leadership to her constituents.
