Mr. Speaker, last year, I stood outside Delaney Hall in Newark, New Jersey, and made the dire observation that no one is safe in Trump's America. Since then, three people that we know of have died after medical emergencies at Delaney Hall, including Edwin Lopez- Cornejo, who leaves behind his 12-year-old U.S. citizen daughter. In private detention centers across the country, ICE and their private partners, like The GEO Group, are continuing down this dangerous path without any regard to the human cost of their actions.

Biography
Rob Menendez began his career as a transportation attorney, advising public agencies on infrastructure and transit projects. Elected to represent New Jersey’s 8th Congressional District in 2022, he focuses on affordable housing, public transportation, and economic opportunity. Menendez serves on the House Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure, where he has advocated for increased federal transit funding and equitable infrastructure investment. He approaches his role with a collaborative style, working to ensure that federal policy meets the practical needs of his diverse urban and suburban communities.
