Biography
LaMonica McIver represents New Jersey’s 10th congressional district, elected in a September 2024 special election to fill the vacancy left by the death of Donald Payne Jr. She previously served on the Newark Municipal Council from 2018 until entering Congress in 2024. Before her House tenure, McIver joined other officials in attempting a congressional oversight visit to a Newark ICE detention facility; she was later indicted for allegedly impeding federal officers during that visit, a case she has called politically motivated.
