I want to close by explaining why this resolution should be defeated. The reality is that Big Oil has raked in record profits over the course of President Trump's disastrous war in Iran. Some of the world's biggest oil giants have nearly doubled or even quadrupled their earnings in the second quarter of 2026 compared to last year. This is all while Americans have spent more than $105 billion more on gasoline and diesel fuel since the start of President Trump's war of choice in Iran. The problem isn't getting any better, Mr. Speaker.

Republican leadership is sending us home 2 weeks early for a 2-month recess before we return after the election, and instead of using the little time we have left to address the worsening affordability crisis that the Trump administration is causing, we are wasting the last week of session on another round of useless Congressional Review Act resolutions, or CRAs. Mr. Speaker, Trump is destroying our economy while House Republicans sit on the sidelines.
I rise in support of H.R. 9340, the Ratepayer Protection Act. Everyone knows that data centers are helping drive electricity prices to record highs this year. Just in the mid-Atlantic over the past few years, data centers have increased electric bills by over $30 billion. By and large, it has not been the data centers that have been footing the bill. It has been our constituents. This problem is happening across the Nation, from Texas to California, from Florida to Washington State. It doesn't matter if you are in a red State or a blue State.
