If you think about the history of this great Nation as we celebrate 250 years of America, one of the things that America has been so successful at has been always being on the frontier of new innovations. In fact, in the last 150 years, America has led the world in advancements in technology. Today is no different.

Mr. Speaker, I rise today to recognize someone whose leadership, service, and friendship have meant so much to me, Team Scalise, and the people of southeast Louisiana. I am talking about my chief of staff and senior leadership adviser, Megan Bel Miller. Megan has been part of my team from the very beginning. In fact, when I was first elected to Congress, she was the very first person that I hired.
I am truly going to miss him, but he has got a lot of great work left to do as the chairman of the Committee on the Budget, not the least of which is this important resolution, which is being brought forward, Mr. Chairman, a resolution that is critical to ensuring the hallmark of democracy, and that is the right to vote: one person, one vote. If we look at all of the things that we have been working with President Trump to do to make life more affordable for working families, over and over again, we see nothing but obstruction from Democrats. It is sad to say. It is sad to see.
Biography
Steve Scalise began his career as a computer systems engineer before entering public service. Elected to represent Louisiana’s 1st Congressional District in 2008, he has prioritized energy policy, disaster recovery, and fiscal responsibility. As House Majority Leader and a former chair of the Republican Study Committee, Scalise has led efforts to expand domestic energy production and streamline federal disaster aid. He is known for a pragmatic approach, focusing on policies that support economic growth and resilience for his Gulf Coast constituents.
