Madam Speaker, ICE, the President's paramilitary secret police force, continues to roam American streets and murder people in broad daylight and in cold blood. First, it was Ruben Ray Martinez in March 2025, but ICE covered it up and kept it from the public. Then, it was Alex Pretti and Renee Good. ICE shot and killed these two innocent people in Minnesota who had done nothing more than exercise their constitutional right to protest and free speech.

Mr. Speaker, I rise today in support of the Iranian Temporary Immigration Relief Act, legislation I introduced alongside Congressman Tom Suozzi to provide temporary protected status and work authorization to eligible Iranian nationals already living in the United States. Our bill is about fairness. It is about keeping a promise to people who followed the law, complied with every immigration requirement, and came to this country to study, research, innovate, and contribute. It is also personal to me. My father came to the United States as a student.
