Alma Adams Biography

A former art professor and lifelong advocate for education, Alma Adams was elected to represent North Carolina’s 12th Congressional District in 2014. In Congress, she has championed affordable healthcare, support for historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs), and equitable economic development. Adams authored the FUTURE Act, securing permanent federal funding for HBCUs, and serves as co-chair of the Bipartisan HBCU Caucus. She is known for her hands-on approach to constituent services and her commitment to amplifying underrepresented voices in her district.
