Mr. Speaker, at the beginning of the 119th session, I was ready to work with anyone to root out waste, fraud, and abuse in the government. We are here to be good stewards of taxpayer dollars, and we should want our government to be efficient. That is not what happened. We started with a bipartisan congressional effort, and then President Trump appointed Elon Musk, who stood there with a chainsaw, brought in a bunch of unqualified DOGE bros, who said that they were going to make $2 trillion in savings from the Federal budget, but made no meaningful impact in spending.
Mr. Speaker, first and foremost, I want to congratulate the Eugene Emergency Physicians for their hard-fought and won contract with PeaceHealth, the only level 2 trauma hospital between Corvallis, Oregon, and Crescent City, California. Now, for those who don't know, the PeaceHealth hospital leadership decided to replace our local emergency physician group, 41 medical professionals who live in our community and who have served our emergency medical needs with distinction for 35 years, with a management-run, venture capital-funded medical group out of Georgia.

Elected in 2022, she represents Oregon’s 4th congressional district in the U.S. House of Representatives. Hoyle prioritizes expanding affordable healthcare, protecting the environment, and supporting rural economic development. She serves on the House Committee on Natural Resources and has championed legislation to increase wildfire prevention funding and strengthen forest management. Hoyle is known for her practical, collaborative approach to solving problems facing her diverse district.
