They work hard, pay their taxes, and deserve to know that those funds are not lining the pockets of fraudsters who exploit the system for personal gain. Fraud is never a victimless crime.

Mr. Speaker, I rise today in strong support of H.R. 8823, bipartisan legislation that protects both taxpayers and the Federal employees who rely on the Federal Employees' Compensation Act, when they are injured on the job. Federal workers who are navigating an injury deserve timely, honest, and compassionate care, not to become the target of fraud. Programs like FECA exist to ensure these workers receive the medical treatment and support they need to recover. Unfortunately, some bad actors have exploited that trust.
Mr. Speaker, I rise in opposition to H.R. 5408, the so-called Faster Labor Contracts Act. I will give credit to whoever named this bill because it certainly accomplishes two things faster: It fast-tracks government intrusion into private workplaces, and it erodes workers' rights faster than we have ever seen before. Under the FLCA, if the private parties involved do not reach a first contract on an accelerated timeline, a government-appointed arbitration panel steps in and imposes one.
Biography
Tim Walberg began his public service as a pastor, bringing a community-focused approach to his work in Congress. Elected as the U.S. Representative for Michigan’s 5th district in 2006, Walberg has prioritized job growth, veterans’ services, and regulatory reform. He authored the VA Accountability First Act to improve performance and accountability in veterans’ health care, and he serves on the House Committee on Energy and Commerce. Walberg approaches his role with a commitment to transparency and responsiveness, consistently engaging with constituents to address their concerns and represent their interests in Washington.
