Mr. Speaker, I think there are now 200 million good reasons to vote for this bill, because that is exactly how much Members of Congress made in trading stock, most of it insider information contributing to their $200 million in take home. Now, here is the reality. Most Members of Congress are not trading stock on the job. Most of them are not day traders. They are in their districts. The reality is true; 35 Members of Congress beat the S&P 500 last year.
Here is the reality. Republicans and Democrats should all be wanting to help drive down costs for Americans right now: supply chain costs, costs for the home, and costs at the pump. Right now we have got a viable solution, 50 cents off per gallon with year-round nationwide E15. Whether you are filling up a truck or a tractor-trailer, a motor home or a minivan, this has a direct impact on families, and it is something we have been asking for in this Chamber for a long time on both sides of the aisle. Why hasn't this come to the floor for a vote?
Biography
Before entering Congress, Zachary Nunn served as an intelligence officer in the U.S. Air Force and later worked in cybersecurity policy. Elected as the U.S. Representative for Iowa’s 3rd District in 2022, Nunn focuses on veterans’ issues, strengthening rural economies, and national security. He played a leading role in the House Committee on Agriculture, advocating for disaster relief funding for Iowa farmers, and introduced legislation to improve cybersecurity infrastructure. Nunn approaches his work with a mission-oriented mindset, aiming to deliver practical results and responsive service to his constituents.
